2017 American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC)

Stago hosted a record-breaking exhibition and charitable event at the 2017 American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) Annual Meeting and Clinical Lab Expo in San Diego, CA from August 1st through August 3rd. With more than 21,000 attendees and 730 exhibitors, the 2017 AACC expo was the largest yet.

The booth theme, “Every Patient Matters” focused on providing our laboratory heroes with the latest information on the expanding role of hemostasis testing in patient management, and the means for all laboratories, regardless of size, to provide the most advanced care for their patients.  The booth team, including 10 colleagues from Stago France & Brazil, delivered focused, value-based messaging demonstrating strong down-stream benefits to the reference lab, hospital or health system. In three demo areas and Under spotlights on the Max Generation platform, Stago performed more than 150 live demos focusing on the standardization, innovation and efficiency of Coag Expert and Viscosity-Based (mechanical) Detection System (VDBS) with the STA R Max and STA Compact Max.

Stago’s “Every Patient Matters” Diagnostic Challenge Experience attracted a large number of visitors.  Four interactive touch screens each highlighted a unique patient story. Participants determined what coagulation tests to perform to unravel the diagnosis for their patient after reading through patient histories & symptoms.  Once armed with the results of the Stago solutions, our lab heroes could diagnose their patient and learn the rest of the story. Together, we celebrated what our lab heroes do every day for their patients.

Nearby, the #StagoRedCarpet photo booth featured a 6 ft. “Red” where attendees could have their pictures taken with the Stago mascot. The photo booth was always bustling and added an element of fun and camaraderie. Booth traffic remained strong throughout the week – even our customers took pride in our strong Stago presence at this year’s AACC.

Stago’s own Dr. Paul Riley, organized and hosted our annual Industry Workshop on the AACC exhibit hall floor.  The heavily-attended session entitled, Every Patient Matters – The Impact of Chronic Bleeding and Clotting Disorders was presented by two dynamic speakers, Sara Wyen, Manager, Communications & Health Marketing for National Blood Clot Alliance and Patrick James Lynch, Co-Founder & CEO of Believe Limited.  The presentations were an emotional journey into the lives of young adults impacted by bleeding and clotting disorders.  Their unified message demonstrated that truly Every Patient (and their family) Matters when diagnosing and monitoring coagulopathies.  The Right Result, the First Time, is critical.

To cap the AACC experience, Stago hosted, “Every Hit Scores,” a charity baseball event to raise awareness for advancing the prevention, early diagnosis and successful treatment of life-threating blood clots. After an evening of camaraderie with our customers, Stago hit it out of the park at Petco Park and was able to donate over $5,000 to the National Blood Clot Alliance (NBCA). Hemostasis and thrombosis education is a core value at Stago and our focus on educational efforts to support laboratorians, clinical practitioners and others who assist patients with diagnosis and management of coagulopathies and related conditions will be strengthened as a result of supporting the mission of the NBCA.

Our success at the 2017 AACC Annual Meeting and Clinical Expo has raised the bar for us next year and we look forward to seeing you at the 2018 AACC Annual Meeting and Clinical Lab Expo in Chicago, Illinois from Jul 29th - Aug 2nd.
